Welcome to STRATODEAN! "What is STRATODEAN?!" I hear you ask, well it is our project to send a captive unmanned balloon complete with payload (fancy name for a box with stuff in) from our hometown in the Forest of Dean to the edge of space (approx. between 70,000 to 100,000 feet up into the Stratosphere). The balloon then bursts and our payload returns to earth with the help of a parachute and hopefully with some pretty decent video and photos of the journey.
This is the number one place to read all about the ups and downs (haha) of our project. It will follow the project from conception (pretty much where we are now) right through to launch.
Today's task has primarily been dealing with lots of research into the best (yet affordable) tracking device and forming an extensive shopping list. Watch this space!
